OK, I’m watching a movie called, “My Date with Drew” and if you’re looking for a self indulging, silly, and at times nauseating movie… then you’re in luck!
The movie starts with a guy who has won $1,100 on a game show and instead of paying bills or feeding himself he decides to spend the money making a movie to get a date with Drew Barrymore. The premise is ok… not great. The movie gets so much worse and it does so amazingly fast.
Let’s start with the equipment needed to film the movie. He goes to Circuit City and tries to buy the camera with the intention of returning it within the 30 day return window. His credit card is declined so he applies for the Circuit City card and is declined for that as well.
Then… it goes down hill from there. The only bright spot is the call from his ex-girlfriend who gets dragged into the movie. It is awesome seeing her melt down after he asks her what he could do better to get a girl. LOL… it is awesome seeing that train wreck get going and all the follow-up calls as it gets worse and worse.
I was so happy that he missed his goal. I enjoyed him struggling to decide between an actual job vs. his last week on the project. The only thing I can’t imagine is why the job was offered to him. So odd! I was also laughing my butt off when his makeshift website crashed right after the radio interview. Man, being in technology / internet for so long that it was apparent that this was the kind of event he had to assume would happen.
The only good part of the movie was when Drew showed up on screen. She was initially great on screen but that too got a little odd. She’s great but paired up with that guy she was bound to be dragged down.
