Losing a job isn’t always that bad…

A Funny Thing Happened The Day After I Got Laid Off from Anthony Ferraro on Vimeo.

A quote worth reading (IMHO)

December 11th, 2008

I made this my Skype status yesterday and a few people commented on how much they liked it so I thought I’d share it:

“The voice of reason is often drowned out until all the other voices are quieted by the shock of failure.”

Catching up with friends

December 11th, 2008

As most people who know me know, I love my Korean BBQ lunches on Saturday. There isn’t much that will get in the way of me making it there since I can’t just bolt over during the work week. But this week Alice and I got to go and catch up with Chad, Jen and the new baby over lunch. I guess one plus to our neighborhood is the new baby’s r us is a draw. :-) Anyway- it was awesome catching up with them and totally trumped the Korean BBQ run.

Follow-up note: the universe balances out once again. ;-) Gersh came to town and we met for dinner Wednesday night as we often do and he suggested Korean. So, all is right with the world.

Atlas Shrugged

October 10th, 2008

I am going to start reading Atlas Shrugged again tonight. I read it every year and haven’t done it this year with the new job and all. Plus- I think I could use the encouragement I always derive from that experience.

My friends at CanDo have some pages on their site that you should check out: Money and Gold.

I love Tina Fey

October 7th, 2008

If only one good thing comes out of this Palin debacle I’m happy that it was a renewed chance to see Tina Fey on SNL.

See here for the SNL VP debate skit.

Hack the debate with Current

September 23rd, 2008

I don’t talk about work often in the blog… it isn’t a work blog (which is obvious if you look at all the posts about MTV shows) but there are a couple fun things coming out of Current these days and here is the first:

Hack the Debate:

We’ve got an interesting project going on this Friday where you can disuss the debates on twitter by adding #current to your tweet and your comment may end up on the Current broadcast. For more information and details on how to participate, check out http://current.com/debate

You had me at Orange County

September 23rd, 2008

But you lost me in New York and I doubt I’ll ever even consider Atlanta (Sorry J Scot and Carol).

But seriously… is Bravo going with the CSI approach to syndication and soon we’ll have a Real Housewives of Canton, Ohio?

My favorite thing

September 19th, 2008

My favorite thing to do is to spend time with people I love.

Several of my favorite people

I was going through a bunch of pictures on my iPhone (one of the many ways I distract myself from my hour commute in the morning) and I was pretty pumped to come across this pic. It was taken during our wedding weekend up in Portsmouth, NH and while I was freaking out on the inside about the big life event about to happen I couldn’t help but enjoy this moment. It is funny to realize that Corinne was the only person who knew everyone else in the picture before this meal. (This was pre-Facebook where you social networks didn’t cross as readily.)

I only have a couple things I would have wished to be different (a few of my friends living in CA couldn’t make it, Jen and Jason would arrive a few minutes after this and just missed being in it, Paul, Jen, Amelia, Kitty and a few others hadn’t arrived yet) but that is like a 1st world billionaire wishing he had change kinda problem.

The next day we were able to have the picture that got a lot closer to my perfect picture requirements.

(I’ll try to remember to replace these images with the higher quality versions later… not the versions that were optimized for the iPhone.)

Anyway, I wanted to say thanks to everyone who helped give me these memories but especially Alice who pulled it all together.
